Niuya Village is located in the lower reaches of the scenic belt of the Xihe River with convenient transportation, 13 kilometers away from Xiangyindu Subdistrict and 4.5 kilometers away from the county town.
The village covers a cultivated area of 595 mu (about 39.7 hectares) and a total forest area of 7,600 mu (about 506.7 hectares) with a total of 438 households and 1,295 villagers.
There is also Yuquan Temple, White Tiger Nunnery and other cultural landscapes. The millenary ginkgo tree and bamboo flourish in front of Yuquan Temple, attracting tremendous tourists every year.
For a long time, coal mining had been the pillar industry in the village. The closer the wall got to the mine, the darker it would be.
In 2020, to cut inefficient and ineffective production capacity, the village shut two backward coal mines and learned from the living environment improvement action of Xiangyindu Subdistrict to ensure the progress in the environmental sanitation, demolition of abandon houses and the cleaning of ponds and banks.
The squalid conditions around the mines have been greatly improved. The millenary ginkgo tree in the rebuilt Yuquan Temple forms a unique landscape, attracting many tourists to take photos.
The beautiful scenery of Laowanzu Beach Park in Niuya Village makes it an internet-famous site, drawing a constant stream of photography enthusiasts, anglers and cyclists. The committees of the village are striving for the pilot construction of water conservancy projects for cultural tourism such as water conservancy cultural theme park.
In Niuya Village, the neatly arranged residential houses besides clean roads are surrounded by luxuriant grass and enchanting flowers. The electrical wiring of houses and toilets have been reconstructed according to the regulations. The scenery along the Xihe River will be different in the next step. Niuya Village has realized the growth from an “untidy girl” to an “elegant lady”.
Last year, Niuya Village invited talents to promote the construction of hometown by building a new pig farm, which will be put into production this year and is expected to sell 6,000 pigs annually in the initial stage.
Next, the village will attract more market entities with its bamboo forests, farmland and river channels, and encourage villagers to develop agritainment and homestay inns on the premise of ecological protection. In this way, rural tourism will drive industrial development and rural revitalization will benefit everyone.
The committees of village explored ways to develop industry including introducing high-standard farmland construction projects and developing modern facility agriculture.
To stop any attempts to use cropland for any purpose other than agriculture and specifically grain production, the village vigorously reclaimed the abandoned farmland and improved the planting efficiency by inviting experienced farmers and introducing continuous cropping of “rice + other crops”.
The committees also discussed with those closed mining enterprises about their ways of industrial transformation. The value of bamboo carvings created by bamboo forests in the village is several times higher than agricultural supplies.
According to the preliminary planning in the next five years, Niuya Village aims to build itself into a beautiful and livable village with tourist attractions.
